Turner, Russell. Wettengel among Lakeside Speedway winners

KANSAS CITY,, Kansas — Lakeside Speedway would like to thank all Drivers, Fans, and Workers for another outstanding night of racing action! Special thanks to Natalie Doney for honoring our Troops and America with the singing of our National Anthem.

A loaded field of Pure Stocks would kick off the night of great racing action and the hard hitters dueled in the front of the pack. Week one feature winner #6 John Snyder would set the pace early winning his heat race and holding off the challenges of a very fast Joseph Smith Jr #56 in the early stages of the feature. Ed Noll #15 would charge past Snyder and Smith to take the lead only to see a caution restack the field of competitors. On the ensuing restart Eddy Noll #15E would charge past the top two and take the lead and battle the very best in the business at the ripe old age of 13. Noll would run a near perfect line and never falter on his way to his first ever feature win at Lakeside Speedway. Winning both heat race and feature on this night the roar of the crowd could be heard throughout the Kansas City area as he pulled into Nextran Truck Center Victory Lane and addressed the fans. Snyder would finish a strong second with Ed Noll third. Kalub Jones #64 was in the hunt for the front all feature finishing fourth with Darrin Christy #403 rounding out our night’s top five.

E-Modified heat race winners were #54L Chris Dishong and #16 Brian Dultimeier setting the stage for an action filled feature. Dishong would waste no time jumping to the lead and appear to have the field covered as Brian Dultimeier would challenge along with Jeff DeGroot #61. Dultimeier would suffer mechanical trouble as so would DeGroot taking them from win contention. Big mover off the feature was #79J Jason Park as he would pick off the front runners one at a time marching past. Paul Lanfermann #16 was in the battle as he would have his best showing of 2024 battling Park for the top spot. As goes each week, Paul Carter #47 would show speed along with Devin Dultimeier #8 and always fast Jeff Goepferich Sr as they fought for position. When the smoke cleared and post-race inspection complete, Jason Park would stand tall in Nextran Victory Lane holding off second place finisher Paul Lanfermann at the checkers. Third place would go to Devin Dultimeier with Carter fourth and Goepferich #5J racing his way to fifth on the night.

The first appearance of IMCA RaceSaver Wing Sprints would be a success with Mitchell Moore #51 and Knoxville, IA driver Jeff Wilke #41 setting the gold standard early. Wilke would take the lead in commanding fashion battling the #55 of Kenny Potter and a very fast Moore until caution would fly for an overturned car of #6 Mason Day on the backstretch. Day would escape the crash unharmed, and we would again see the green flag. On the drop of the green restart, Jay Russell #76 would make a daring move on the high side passing Wilke for the lead and take command of the race. Great racing throughout the field with Albany, MO’s Jacob Dye #20D and #63 of Jack Thomas fighting it out. As we came to the checkers, Russell would take the feature win with Wilke second and Thomas third. Fourth place would go to Dye with Moore fading slightly in the closing laps to end the night fifth.

Fast and furious USRA B-Mods would take the track with heat race winners #57 Aaron Marrant, #311 John Baker and Stephen Clancy #12C all taking turns challenging for the lead. On Lap one or two of the feature we would see three wide in turn four for the lead with Baker high side, Shadren Turner middle and Marrant low side to the flag stand. Turner #56 would slide through and take the front with Baker settling into second with all other competitors challenging. As Turner would lead, great racing action would follow the leader as three wily veteran drivers fought for position. Tim Karrick #1, Kerry Davis #68 and Stephen Clancy would put on a show for all fans in attendance diving and dancing for the top spot. Marrant would suffer mechanical issues and head for the pits with Turner continuing to lead. Turner would take the win and park in Nextran Victory Lane with big mover Karrick, running Turner down as the checkers were
