Taylor Reimer to run some pavement late model races in 2024

After a 2023 season that saw Taylor Reimer finish in the top 10 in points in both national touring Midget series, Reimer will shift her focus towards racing on pavement with an eye towards a career in NASCAR starting in 2024.

Reimer recently joined the “Huffman Racing Radio” podcast, a podcast run by CARS Tour regular, Landon Huffman, to discuss her 2024 racing plans.

The Oklahoma native said she hopes to run about 25 pavement races next year with a few dirt races, like January’s Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, thrown into the mix as well.

Reimer said she will be racing with Lee Faulk Racing through her Toyota Racing Development contract, mostly in weekly racing competition, as she starts to get her feet wet.

“I’m still going to do a little bit of dirt stuff when I have time,” Reimer said on the podcast. “But my main focus is going to be on transitioning to pavement. I’m going to do some Late Model stuff with Lee Faulk. Just local tracks like Tri-County Speedway and Hickory Motor Speedway, so I can focus on learning how to drive a stock car and on pavement.”

Reimer made her pavement Late Model debut in a Limited Late Model at North Carolina’s Tri-County Speedway in late October with Lee Faulk Racing. She finished ninth in a 24-car field.

She said the biggest adjustment she has to make is learning how to race with a spotter because having someone in her ear at all times can be “overwhelming.”

“Having a spotter is new. I’ve never had a spotter. In dirt you’re just on your own. It’s totally different. Sometimes I’m so focused on driving that they start talking to you and you have to process what they’re saying. But I’m also trying to focus on my braking points and stuff. It can be very overwhelming.”

Reimer, who made her ARCA Menards Series debut with Venturini Motorsports on the one-mile dirt oval at the Illinois State Fairgrounds late last year, said she will most likely be competing in three ARCA events as well. She said the plan currently is to run both dirt races and run an ARCA Menards Series West race at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

She also confirmed on the Huffman Racing Radio podcast that she will be returning to the 2024 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, though her formal entry and team is still to be announced.
