What happened to Spring?
Posted by Kirk Elliott at 06:44:05 AM
What is it with this weather? The entire month of March was beautiful, and April is as cold as January. I was fired up about opening night at Lakeside and the Bob Ramey Memorial in Sedalia this weekend, and we end up sitting at home looking for things to do. What a let down!
Now, we'll just have to gear it back up for next weekend which will be a busy one for me, beginning with Lakeside on Friday night, followed by L A Raceway's WOW event on Saturday and the State Fairgrounds on Sunday. Now if we can just get Mother Nature to cooperate.
Doesn't seem right Clint Bowyer won't be running at Nashville this weekend. This is a track he has always run well at, so I'm very surprised this race wasn't part of his shortened Busch Series schedule. Should be lots of slipping and sliding on the cold concrete which would have played right in with Bowyer's driving style.
Bowyer is off to a good start in Nextel Cup. Getting through Bristol and Martinsville with solid finishes is a real plus as he now has Texas, Phoenix, and Richmond coming next, tracks he runs well.
Carl Edwards also moved up a notch in the standings after Martinsville and Jamie McMurray appears to have gotten things turned around. I'm predicting wins by all three of our local guys this year, which is a tall order the way the Hendrick cars are running.
Great news about ISC giving the go-ahead for Darlington to get a new pave job and other improvements. This has always been one of my favorite tracks, and it would be a real shame to see it go away. It's just needed to be brought up to modern day standards. The next thing that needs to happen is returning the Southern 500 to Labor Day weekend. Tradition should still matter.
Happy Easter!
