Racing Season Finally Here

Posted by Terry Bivins at 04:22:20 PM

It has been a hell of a long winter this year and I'm glad it is over. Then the rains came and have been messing up everyone's racing. hardly any tracks got in any practice and races have been canceled. everybody is cussing the rain and late spring cold weather. We work on our cars all winter to get ready to race, worse for me mine has been ready to race since last Oct. Car owner bought a used Dirt Works mod and I spent 5 weeks redoing it, that helped pass some time, got it about done except for the motor. Going to be quite a while before we can race it, can't really afford to put one together right now. We have a couple of things in the fire trying to get some sponsor help for the Mod, but I'm not holding my breath on either one.

Was at Wheatland Sunday, got to give them E for effort, sometimes when people are trying their best things go to hell in a hurry. Nobody's fault we all wanted to watch a race and they wanted to have one.  JMO

I'm very excited about the upcoming season, I'm sure we have the car ready to race and I think we have a decent set-up to get us started. Looking forward to racing with all of the fast shoes and hoping to pass a few of them once in a while.

With the new cars so much different than I used to race and having been such a long time since I've been in a dirt car, I almost feel like a rookie again. The power steering thing is really cool though, never drove one with power steering until the end of last year. I'm going to try and not make any rookie mistakes and if I do I hope my fellow racers will forgive me. Not in me to just putt around even at my age, I'm going to race hard and try to out run somebody. Even if I'm running last I'll be after the guy running next to last.

Here's wishing all of the local racers in all classes a great year of racing. Looking forward to seeing you all at the track

Nice Quote Terry. That is what racing is all about. I'm a rookie this year and this is exactly how I feel about it. Good luck to you this year and to all the racers out there.

Terry I was excited to hear that you were back in a dirt car! I grew up watching you race that old orange chevy at lakeside, riverside, topeka not to mention the home movies that my family had taken. Im Pepper and charlene( keith) Martins son. lloyd & Judy keith are my cousins along with old Lewis Taylor. I Have many good memories of Randy,Ronnie,Ricky Bebee and I all playing racer arguing over who we were going to be. Also in later years I watched you drag race at KCIR your the man!
thanks for the memories welcome back!

It would be fun to see some of those old movies sometime, will have to figure out a way to do that this winter. We really had a lot of fun back then and I'm having a lot of fun now too.

Thanks
Terry
