Joe was in the Army car and Ricky was in the 21 I think. Biffle and Martin had the best cars all day but got shuffled up on pit stops towards the end.

I also remember going over to I-70 on friday night for some mod and truck races.........then again on saturday night for the World Cup 300. The crowd for those races was terrible because everyone went to Lakeside for the super late models.

Listened to the racinboys radio show on the way outta KC on sunday after the cup race.

305's and 360's have beat 360's and 410's. Chad Wilson has many top 10 finishes in a 305 running against the 410's in Indiana where fans boycott dryslick tracks.

But what bothers me the most about this tread as a huge fan of sprint cars, traditional sprints in particular is talk of boycotting the race. We fans and racers scream and fight for more races, We are fighting to build and grow sprint car racing and the only thing boycotting will accomplish is helping to kill off sprint car racing.

Why not instead push to flood the field with 305's and show promoters it is feasible to have a big 305 special and make this and other sprint races ones fans don't want to miss

Some might not know this but, at the last race at LA. in the drivers meeting Mike said the rules will stay the same for next year. Which means you can still run URSS rules ( I totally agree with the stupid looking wing comment John) or run the stock headed old rules. And talk about tech. Just tell them how you think Joe Shmoe is cheating and they will tech it. I love how much they tech. Shuts up some mouths. I've been guilty of it myself of thinking someone is cheating untill he checked them. Us racers are full of pride and believe that nobody can beat us with out cheating. Then Mike checks them and UHHHHH.............. need new excuses.

Watch the car counts from Bethany and the Lake combined this weekend and see what the true potential would be if advertisement and pay out would be good for this race.

Would have liked to have seen Valley run 305s on Saturday Night from the start. LA wasn't going to change nights. They will continue to prove their Dominance over Sedalia as long as they can.

Would have liked to have seen Valley keep the same rules as LA. Wouldn't have had to Port my Heads last year or buy new Heads this year. Wouldn't have had to listen to the LA crowd wine about a few horses. Don't like LAs new engine rules. Don't like URSS engine rules. Not sure why I don't like them, they're probably the best thing 305wise around.

Like to see more engines get pumped. I know of one big engine out there with 305 #s on the block .

Oh yeah I don't like that Mini Sprint wing on the URSS cars. If you're going to run a wing, Run a friggin real Wing. If you're not going to run a wing, thats fine too just take it off. But don't run that Mini Sprint wing on a Sprint Car. Might as well run Midget tires and wheels, that'll take some of the bite out

I have had a great time at Valley these last two seasons. Glad to have a promoter to step up and try to put on a Sprint Show in this area. I wouldn't want to own a track nor would I want to make or enforce rules at a track. So I'll just keep on racin' when and where I can.

Hope I didn't run on too long but thats how my Dad raised me.....

Sorry, I am a culprit here myself for not bringing my car out but the 305 guys haven't done much to help themselves. Having two tracks this close together running the same night was pretty detrimental. Unified rules would have also helped. Enforcement of those rules would even be a better step. The wife and I went one time and haven't been back.

We would gladly drive 24 hours round trip to see a race in Richmond,VA as opposed to 6 hours to see 'em drive around in circles at Kansas.

Rainy day and I'm not doing much so I got to looking around the net:

Salem Speedway and Winchester Speedway are still racing and both speedways have big Late Model events upcoming in Sept. and Oct.

The CRA Superseries, ASA Midwest, ARCA are all still running paved short tracks in the midwest.

Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, and Indiana all have quite a bit of paved short track racing going on.


That type of racing is far from dead, so it appears that just I-70 is dead.

Looking at pictures like those really makes a fella wish he'd cherished the moments of the past a little more. Just a mere spectator, but some of the greatest races I've ever attended were at I-70, and I think I've been around enough to make that call.

I would like to sit in those stands again if it ever becomes possible.
