Spencer halts Cardey's Perris streak in USAC/CRA Sprints(Perris, CA) Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif. won Saturday night’s 30-lap AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint race at Perris Auto Speedway, halting the four-race Perris winning streak of David Cardey, who was the first driver to retire from Saturday’s feature.
Tri-City Speedway accepting entries for Gold Crown Midget Nationals(Pontoon Beach, IL) Entry blanks have been mailed for the upcoming 2nd Annual “Gold Crown Midget Nationals” USAC Mopar National Midget race at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill., scheduled Wednesday, Sept. 29 through Saturday, October 2. The race is co-sanctioned by the POWRi presented by Speedway Motors Midget Series.
Hmiel scores USAC Sprint Car win at Winchester(Winchester, IN) Shane Hmiel of Pleasant Garden, N.C. is the top point scorer in USAC Sprint pavement racing for 2010. Sunday afternoon he led the final 30 laps to win the 40-lap “Rich Vogler Classic” at Winchester Speedway on “Winchester Oldtimers Weekend.”
Tony Bettenhausen 100 postponed by rain(Springfield, IL) Saturday's "Tony Bettenhausen 100" USAC Silver Crown Championship race at the Illinois State Fairgrounds has been postponed due to extremely wet grounds and race track. Heavy rains overnight created conditions not conducive to racing at the one-mile dirt oval. Officials of Track Enterprises and USAC are working to secure a replacement date for the event later in the year. An announcement will be made regarding a new date when firm.
USAC Silver Crown takes to Springfield Mile this weekend(Springfield, IL) It’s been 27 years since a native Illinois driver has won the “Tony Bettenhausen 100” at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. That drought could end this Saturday.
Miller tops USAC/CRA Sprints at Santa Maria(Santa Maria, CA) Blake Miller of Yorba Linda, Calif. won Saturday night’s 20-lap AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint race at the Santa Maria Speedway. He was followed at the chekered flag by Troy Rutherford, Bud Kaeding, series point leader Mike Spencer and fast qualifier Rip Williams.
Hmiel wins James/O'Connor Memorial at Salem(Salem, IN) Shane Hmiel of Pleasant Garden, N.C. led all 50 laps to win Saturday night’s 51st “Joe James/Pat O’Connor Memorial” AMSOIL USAC National Sprint race at the Salem Speedway.
Swanson brothers star at Berlin(Marne, MI) Brothers Tanner and Kody Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. swept the top two spots in Thursday night’s “Great Lakes 150” USAC Silver Crown race at Berlin Raceway. Tanner grabbed lead from Bobby East on lap 101 and led the final 50 laps in his Toyota/TK Motorsports Beast.
