Sherrill and Martin share SMRS weekend victories(West Siloam Springs, OK) The Southern Midget Racing Series opened its 2008 campaign this past weekend. Matt Sherrill captured a hard-fought victory Friday night at Outlaw Motor Speedway before Eddie Martin outlasted a 19-car field Saturday night at West Siloam Speedway.
SMRS opens 2008 campaign April 25-26 in Oklahoma(Sallisaw, OK) The Southern Midget Racing Series opener at the Outlaw Motor Speedway is looking very good indeed. Cars from four states have verified their entries, and two more states are expected to be there. It looks like a great field of cars are planning to be there. The Azalea Motel in Muscogee, {6 miles} is offering a racers discount for the Outlaw. I haven’t been able to find out what the rates are but I will post it as soon as I can.
Southern Midget Racing Series opens in Oklahoma April 25-26(Sallisaw, OK) The southern Midget Racing Series opens Friday, April 25 at Outlaw Motor Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The opening weekend caps off with an event on Saturday night, April 26 at West Siloam Speedway.
2008 SMRS campaign opens April 25(Sallisaw, OK) Well, it is Feb. already and it will be April very soon. I would like to recognize several people who helped our Series out in 07. Kent and Alischia Thorntons cattle company out of Copeland Ks. provided us with a great point fund.
SMRS Banquet January 7 in Tulsa(Sallisaw, OK) The SMRS Banquet will be on Jan. 7 at the Golden Corral Steak House at 8144 E.21st. Tulsa. The top 10 Owners and Drivers will be honored with cash and other awards. Dinner from 5:30 on and awards will start after. Many new things to announce, including races at several new tracks.
Lueckert bags SMRS season finale at Valley Speedway(Grain Valley, MO) Greg Lueckert held off Jonathan Beason to win the SMRS season finale Saturday night at Valley Speedway. Starting third, Lueckert took advantage of pole sitter Matt Sherrill's mishap at the start of the race, then passed Beason on the outside as they charged down the backstretch with just a handful of laps remaining. Open wheel Saturday at Valley Speedway(Grain Valley, MS) Valley Speedway will wrap up the 2007 racing season this Saturday night with an open wheel special event. The 3rd Annual Fall Shootout will feature SMRS Midgets with 305 Sprints and Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints also part of the program.
Stenhouse wins Cornhusker Challenge(McCool Junction, NE) Ricky Stenhouse Jr. scored a hard-fought victory in Wednesday night's USAC National/Western Midget race at Junction Motor Speedway, co-sanctioned by POWRi. Stenhouse battled Josh Wise and Jerry Coons Jr. until lap 22 when he took the lead for good in his Tony Stewart Racing Chevrolet/Bass Pro Shops Spike/Chevy.
Stratton prevails at Junction(McCool Junction, NE) Danny Stratton of Fontana, Calif. won Tuesday night's 30-lap USAC National/Western Midget race at Junction Motor Speedway co-sanctioned by POWRi. He trailed Jerry Coons Jr. for 29 laps, then took the lead on the final lap in his Bender Brothers Builders/Hammer Homes Spike/Esslinger when Coons blew a tire. PHOTO CREDIT: Bob Jones
