Passionate support for KCIR(Kansas City, MO) KCIR Fans and supporters turned out in force in heavy rain Monday to protest the sale of the 44-year-old facility and turn it into a park. Nearly 100 people in attendance were unhappy the deal was pushed through so quickly without the opportunity to be heard and wanted to let officials know their displeasure with the process. Save KCIR Rally Monday at City Hall(Kansas City, MO) Todd Bridges, General Manager of Kansas City International Raceway, says a "Save KCIR" Rally is planned, rain or shine, Monday, November 7 in front of City Hall in downtown Kansas City. The purpose of the event, set for 4:30 p.m., is for supporters of KCIR to have their voices heard and show solidarity. This comes on the heels of the City Council's unanimous vote last week to purchase the site and turn it into a park.
City of Kansas City Missouri press release concerning KCIR(Kansas City, MO) The City of Kansas City Mo. has passed an ordinance authorizing funding to acquire a land parcel associated with KCIR, a racetrack, with the intent of developing the parcel as parkland. The ordinance was passed following several months of open negotiations between the racetrack owner and the City.
City Council unanimously approves purchase of KCIR to convert into park(Kansas City, MO) The Kansas City Council approved unanimously on a 13-0 vote Thursday to purchase Kansas City International Raceway and convert the 93-acre site into a park. The price of the transaction was undisclosed, according to the Kansas City Star. The sale is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

Dorn headlines All Harley event at KCIR(Kansas City, MO) Steve Dorn rode his Team Latus Harley-Davidson Top Fuel Bike to a final round win over Jay Turner to cap off the two-day Screamin' eagle Midwest Nationals presented by Blue Springs Harley-Davidson. Dorn bested Tommy Grimes and Joey Sternotti on the way to the final and his first win of 2009. Randal Andras captured the Rush Top Fuel victory, while Shaun Reno triumphed in Pro Stock.
