Portsmouth and West Virginia on tap for Lucas Oil Late Models(Wheatland, MO) The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is preparing for a huge Labor Day Weekend of racing with events at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH and West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, WV. A total of $62,000 in first place prize money is up for grabs over the holiday weekend.
O'Neal deals Lucas Oil Late Model victory at Bluegrass(Bardstown, KY) Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN won his second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event of the season on Saturday Night at Bluegrass Speedway. The win was also his second career "Bluegrass Classic." O'Neal led all 50 laps to finally make it to victory lane after he had led in five of the previous seven events he has entered. McDowell goes wire-to-wire at Lawrenceburg(Lawrenceburg, IN) Leading all 50-laps, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA held off a furious late-race-charge to take home the win in front of an enormous crowd at Lawrenceburg Speedway. Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA and Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN closed to within striking distance of McDowell, but could not overtake the leader.
Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Lawrenceburg and Bluegrass(Corona, CA) The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is coming off of back-to-back spectacular race finishes over the last two weeks and returns to action this weekend with a pair of visits to Indiana and Kentucky. The series takes a trip to Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN on Friday Night, August 27th; followed on Saturday Night, August 28th to Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY.
Landers wins Topless 100(Locust Grove, AR) Jared Landers of Batesville, AR scored the first Late Model victory of his career on Sunday Afternoon as he captured the $40,000 to win 18th Annual COMP Cams Topless 100 at Batesville Motor Speedway. Landers, a veteran open wheel modified driver, took the lead from Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL with three laps to go in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. Madden and O'Neal on Topless 100 front row(Locust Grove, AR) Red Buck Cigars Fast Qualifier Chris Madden of Gaffney, SC and Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN will make up the front row for Saturday Night’s 18th Annual COMP Cams Topless 100 at Batesville Motor Speedway. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event drew 73 cars to the Mooney Starr-promoted facility for preliminary action on Friday Night.

McDowell sets quick time at North/South 100(Union, KY) Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA was the quickest of the 71 entrants for the 28th Annual North/South 100 Presented by Lucas Oil on Friday Night at Florence Speedway. McDowell earned $1,000 courtesy of Red Buck Cigars for the achievement. His fast lap around the half-mile high-banked oval was 17.335 seconds. This was the first fast time for McDowell in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition this year.
28th Annual North/South 100 this weekend(Corona, CA) The 28th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 Presented by Lucas Oil Products will be held at Florence Speedway in Union, KY on August 12-14. The event is a crown jewel event in dirt late model racing, and it will pay $50,000 to win and $2500 to start. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the event again in 2010.
