Guthrie receives top honors at Grand River Speedway banquet
(Clinton, MO) Racers from Grand River Speedway gathered at the Henry County Museum's, DeLozier Building, Saturday evening for their annual awards banquet. The top honor of 2007 was bestowed on Allen Guthrie of Raymore, Mo. Awards were presented by the track owner and GRS's newest driver, Christy Thomason, 18, of Holden, Mo.

Fall Series continues at Grand River Speedway
(Urich, MO) Two points separate the Simpsons' Championship efforts going into Sunday's third Fall Series racing event at Grand River Speedway in Urich. The Odessa, Mo, couple race each other in the dirt track's new Farm Truck division. Nikki Simpson was the first ever feature winner and a week later finished third behind her husband, Mel and Odessan, Walter Cox, Mel Simpson now leads GRS points over Nikki by only two points. His win last Sunday gave him the slight advantage with Kyle Shaw of Drexel chasing points closely behind them.

Grass Roots group crowns 10-year-old champ
(Clinton, MO) A nearly capacity crowd in the Delozier Theatre on the Clinton Town Square enjoyed a big screen recap of the area's racing season, Saturday night. The Grass Roots Speed association held their annual awards Banquet in the historic building, benefitting the Henry County Historical Society, located next door in the 1896 Anheiser Busch Building.

Grand River banquet this Saturday
(Clinton, MO) Being driven by his parents from Springfield, Mo on Saturday, to the Delozier Building on the square in Clinton, a 10 year old race car driver will celebrate a dirt track Championship! Devon Huff drove his 600cc Micro Midget in several Urich, Mo, based, GRS promoted events and earned the most points in that division. There, Devon and four other 2006 Missouri area, GRS Champions may recieve a phone call from Daytona, Fla!

Briggs among Grand River Speedway winners
(Urich, MO) Grand River Speedway ends it's Fall Racing Series each year by racing on New Year's Day if at all possible. The rain, snow and thaw postponed the event a week but GRS still was able to lay claim to hosting Missouri's first Stock Car race in 2007, Sunday afternoon.

New Year's Day finale set for Grand River Speedway
(Urich, MO) The leaves were green when the GRS Fall Racing Series began on Sept. 30th. Grand River Speedway, again, managed to hold weekly races until snow cancelled the Dec.3rd 2006 races. races resumed on the 17th. Likewise, Dec. was the only problem in 2005. While Christmas racing is a no-go, a season finale on New Year's Day is an on-going GRS tradition!

(Urich, MO) As NASCAR fans passed by a gravel road off Missouri Hwy 7, a popular route away from Kansas speedway, the grass roots of the sport have been growing with new drivers, only a stones throw away. Big rigs transporting Dale Jr's and Tony Stewart's equipment worth millions headed out toward Talledega after the Kansas Speedway events and 14yr old Nathan Vaughn's Dad started the family pickup truck after his son won the $50 Hobby Stock feature at Grand River Speedway in Urich.

Frazon triumphs at Grand River Speedway
(Urich, MO) For 112 years the Urich Reunion has been a summer highlight, once again race cars were parading down Main St. Micky Cook of Amoret won "Best Race Car" in the Sat. morning car show with his 1928 Pontiac. The Vintage Racers, Hobby Stocks and Street Stocks nearly overheated in the parade and a warm summer rain postponed their "Summer Sizzler" race until Sun. July 16th when 100 degree heat threatened the event.

Asher family deliver bad news to locals at GRS
(Urich, MO) Like the Pony Express, Truman and Jerimiah Asher of St. Joseph, Mo. delivered some bad news to the locals at Sunday GRS. They rode broncs through the dust with Truman Asher's wheel standing Modified showing the fast way around the track.
