Fairbank wins Steve King Memorial Classic(Jetmore, KS) The City of Jetmore came alive Saturday as the community came together to remember the legacy of Steve King with a Golf Tournament, Car Show, Hamburger Feed and a night of what Steve loved, Sprint Car racing. The URSS Sprint Cars went “old school” by taking the wings off and when the Checkered Flag fell, Ransom Kansas’ Smokey Fairbank took the win.
'Steve King Memorial Sprint Classic' this Saturday at Jetmore(Jetmore, KS) The high banks of the Jetmore Motorplex will come alive with the sound of Thunder May 10th as it hosts the “Steve King Memorial Sprint Classic” Sponsored by the City of Jetmore and ICM. The event features a night of Sprint Car racing as its best as the NCRA 360 Winged Sprint Cars and the URSS Wingless Sprint Cars team up for a night of thrills and great racing.
Herbert takes URSS checkers at 81 Speedway(Park City, KS) Dodge City’s Brian Herbert ended the URSS Triple Header Weekend the same way he started it picking up his second URSS win at the venerable high banks at 81 Speedway in Wichita, Kansas. It wasn’t an easy as Herbert had to battle URSS veterans as well as a talented Rookie to take the victory.
Schwein soars to URSS victory at Soloman Valley(Beloit, KS) The United rebel Sprint Series made it debut at Solomon Valley Speedway in Beloit Kansas Saturday night and when the racing action was over, Russell Kansas native Justin Schwien came out the Winner. Nicknamed the “Beloit Bullring” the fast and tacky ¼ oval lived up to its name as the Rebels battled three wide throughout he night.
Herbert tops URSS at Dodge City(Dodge City, KS)
Despite chilly and windy conditions, those who braved the elements where treated to a whale of a race. Track conditions where fast, smooth and tacky, which made for some good old fashioned petal to the metal feature which kept the fans on their feet.
Kansas tripleheader for URSS this weekend(Oberlin, KS)
The 2008 United Rebel Sprint Series starts in earnest this weekend as the Rebels hit three very different tracks in as many nights. It marks the kick off for the URSS Northern Region and the newly established URSS Eastern Region.
URSS begins third campaign at Jetmore(Oberlin, KS) The high banks of the Jetmore Motorplex will roar to life Saturday April 26th as the United Rebel Sprint Series hits the track to open its Third Season. The Series has grown from its humble beginnings with 15 cars in its first year, to 65 cars last season.
URSS Eastern Region opener pushed back(Oberlin, KS) Due to the recent poor weather conditions, The URSS Eastern Region Season opener at Whiskey Lake Raceway has been pushed back to the weekend of May 9th. Whiskey Lake Raceway will also have a Practice and Registration Day to be held on Sunday April 20th starting at 2:00 pm. Prather wins as SCCA Runoffs wrap up at HPT(Topeka, KS) Local driver Jesse Prather and Brian Linn, of Hermosa Beach, Calif., put on one of the most exciting races of the weekend at Heartland Park Topeka, when Prather narrowly beat Linn by 0.898-second to win his second-consecutive F Production National Championship at the 2007 SCCA National Championship Runoffs Presented by AT&T. Harold Flescher, of West Palm Beach, Fla., finished third.
McDermid wins crazy finish in A Sedan; Peter pulls double(Topeka, KS) Heavy storms led to an hour-and-a-half delay to the start of Saturday's races at the SCCA National Championship Runoffs presented by AT&T. The eight races were readjusted to half-hour timed events so that the entire schedule could be completed before dark. It led to some wild action and treacherous conditions for drivers with the wet track and muddy runoff area.
Jayhawk driver defends home turf(Topeka, KS) Local driver Chris Bovis put on an impressive driving display in front of his hometown fans to win his first GT-Lite National Championship at the 2007 SCCA National Championship Runoffs Presented by AT&T at Heartland Park Topeka. Joe Kristensen, of London, Ontario, finished second, while Peter Zekert, of Maryland Heights, Mo., was third.
Two poles for Peter(Topeka, KS) Club Racers hit their stride and only a few pole positions changed hands in the final day of qualifying for the 44th SCCA National Championship Runoffs Presented by AT&T. A day after scoring the C Sports Racing pole, Hans Peter, of Overland Park, Kan., knocked Tonis Kasemets, of Mundelein, Ill., off the Formula Atlantic pole by 0.023-second.
