New blood as IndyCar CEO(Indianapolis, IN) Randy Bernard, the new CEO of the Indy Racing League, admits he knows next to nothing about auto racing. The longtime head of the Professional Bull Riders Inc. feels he can turn that into an advantage. āIām not going to try and pretend I know anything about racing,ā he said after an introductory news conference on Tuesday.
May schedule reduced for 2010 Indy 500(Indianapolis, IN) A two-week event schedule for the Indianapolis 500 potentially opens the door to additional entries for 2010 and beyond and an added IZOD IndyCar Series race in May 2011. Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials announced that Opening Day will be May 15, with the 33-car field filled during what's sure to be non-stop qualifying May 22-23. The green flag for the race is 1 p.m. (EDT on ABC) May 30.
Patrick agrees to Nationwide deal with JRM(Charlotte , NC) Danica Patrick will drive for Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s NASCAR Nationwide Series team in 2010, a source close to the situation told Sporting News on Monday. The formal announcement will come Tuesday in Phoenix, home of GoDaddy, which will sponsor her car. The announcement will end months of speculation about whether Patrick would race in NASCAR.
Franchitti claims IndyCar title(Homestead, FL) Ryan Briscoe would have welcomed -- begged and prayed for actually -- a yellow flag.
