After the completion of the Factory stock feature event on Friday May 9, 2008 the Top 5 in the feature event along with the Top 5 in points were pulled into the tech area. This amounted to nine cars. Tech involved removing a head and the intake manifold to check for bore, stroke, no porting, and correct valve size as written in the Lakeside Speedway rule book. Five cars passed successfully. Four cars, the 66T, the 6, the 56, and the 17S were disqualified for various rule infractions.

The 66T was suspended for two weeks and fined $500 for an illegal cylinder head as well as attempting to defraud the inspection process. The cylinder head presented to tTechnical Director for inspection was not the cylinder head used in competition. The cylinder head used in competition was found in the driver's compartment under a jacket and was determined to be illegal.

The 6 and 56 were disqualified due to incorrect stroke for block with the 17S being disqualified for oversized exhaust valves. Punitive action is being held in abeyance pending future unannounced technical inspections.
