Glenn wins I-70 Dirt IMCA Mod feature

Odessa, MO - May 17, 2008
By: I-70 Speedway

I-70 Speedway, The Dirt Track, finally had a warm spring night of hot racing with not only IMCA sanctioned stock car racing but an outlaw class of stock cars as well. Bennie Turner of Smithville had an interesting comment, “I ran fourth with the IMCA cars and felt competitive with the Outlaw cars as well, even with the IMCA carb!" Finishing ahead of Turner in the IMCA feature was third place, Travis Taylor, second place, Russell Walter and 2007 champion, Brad Whitney took another IMCA Stock Car feature win. Whitney then started near the rear of the Outlaw feature and made his way up to a third place finish, with Herb Danner taking second and Warrensburg's, Chad Eickleberry taking the checkers, "I sure hope Mr. McDonald has us back!" he exclaimed in victory lane.

Modified action of the IMCA variety saw Steven Glenn of Hamilton, MO take home another win as he barely leads 2008 points over second place finisher, PJ Conger. Mike Tanner finished third, just ahead of Rod Cordon. The Sport Modified variety held another great feature with Jeremiah Asher of St. Joseph, MO winning again with David Willey Trenton, MO in second ahead of Odessa's Mickey Fleehart. Many of the IMCA Modified drivers will return tonight to I-70's Dirt Track for an open competition modified event. The pavement track will also be in operation and former pavement driver, Rod Cordon will be gunning for open modified cash.

One of the most exciting features on Friday night was the Sport Compact win on the last lap, by Justin Marrant of Excelsior Springs. Jessica Clemons settled for second. Her Mother's Day Special win came the week before. Wade Sherman was third. The Farm trucks were also quite exciting with "Frankenstein" Bryan Schwartz claiming first. "The trucks named Frankenstein because it's ugly!” he laughed. Point leader, Tom Corum was second and Phil Burns was third. Saturday night information and complete point standings can be found at www.i70speedway.net
