May 17 is Armed Forces Day at HPT

Heartland Park Topeka is very proud to announce that the 2008 Armed Forces Day celebration will be held for the fourth year at the Heartland Park Topeka facility. Heartland Park Topeka plans to celebrate in grand style on May 17, 2008 with a variety of events to fill the day with fun and pay tribute to those who serve this country at home and abroad.
The day will begin at 3:00 p.m. with a custom car show. Static displays from the United States armed forces and civil services, including the Marines, the Army, Topeka police K-9 unit and SWAT team and fire department, will be featured throughout the day, with a special flyover by an Air Force Blackhawk helicopter. The Mounted Color Guard will present two different demonstrations as well. The 35th Infantry Band will be featured, as well as a performance by the band Say When.
The day will conclude with a thrilling rendition of the 1812 Overture, punctuated by a full cannon salute and fireworks, to end Heartland Park Topeka’s tribute to service men and women across the country with a bang!
Heartland Park Topeka, a multi-purpose racing facility located in Topeka, Kansas will host the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)
POWERade Drag Racing Series, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) National Championship Runoffs, American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Grand National Championship (GNC) Flat Track Series any many other pro and amateur dirt, drag, and road racing events throughout the 2008 race season.
