Moffitt performs in GM crate engine

Ankeny, IA - March 22, 2008
By: Chuck Stowe

After finishing a strong 4th in the Friday night, re-scheduled to Saturday afternoon, IMCA SportMod feature during the Beatrice Speedway Spring Nationals, Brett Moffitt came on strong during the Saturday night SportMod main event. Making a move characteristic of a seasoned veteran, the second year SportMod driver passed Les Lundquist for the lead and never looked back. The Spring Nationals win netted Moffitt with a $500 pay check plus a $100 Award Certificate from IMCA Northern SportMod title sponsor, Karl Chevrolet.

“Moffitt’s win answered several questions” commented Karl Chevrolet GM Performance Parts Representative, Chuck Stowe. “The first question answered was how the crate engine powered SportMods would perform against the 9 to 1 engines with the new 6200 RPM chip rule, Moffitt’s engine preformed flawlessly and Brett commented that he didn’t even hit the chip”. “Another performance question regarding the crate engines was answered as due to the existing SportMod rules in place at the Beatrice Speedway, Moffitt’s crate engine also had to compete against 12 to 1 displacement engines and again, the GM Performance Parts 602 crate engine answered the call, providing the necessary power and reliability to get the job done”, concluded Stowe.

The use of GM Performance Parts Crate Engines is a growing trend. To continue that momentum with IMCA, Karl Chevrolet has announced that during the 2008 IMCA Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod season it will award any competitor who wins a feature event using a GM Performance Parts Crate Engine purchased through Karl Chevrolet with a contingency certificate valued at $100.

“Winners of the $100 certificate can come into the dealership and use it to purchase parts, items from our Pro Shop, GM Accessories – they can even use it to toward the purchase price of a new vehicle,” stated Carl Moyer, avid race fan and owner of Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, IA.

Karl Chevrolet is one of the leading suppliers in the country for GM Performance Parts and GM Performance Parts Crate Engines used by sanctioning bodies, racing organizations and independent race tracks across the country. These durable, economical engines are built and sealed at the factory by General Motors to prevent any expensive modifications.
