Fenewald and Anderson headline at Butler

Butler, MO - May 05, 2008
By: Steve Tiedeman

Butler Motor Speedway had a great night for racing on Sunday. Factory stocks made up the first feature of the evening with Drew Hendren and Matt Rose setting the up the front row as the green flag flew. Mark Selsor, Hendren, and Rose took it three wide into turns one and two. Rose would jump out to the lead and never look back. Selsor and Hendren battled side by side for numerous laps with Hendren securing the second spot and Rose taking the win.

Street Stocks were next having Jerry Brown and Jeff Douty setting the pace to the green flag. Brown would take the lead on the back stretch from Douty while Sam Shadden, Charley Jones and Jesse Murray mixed it up for position behind them. Douty would try Brown high and low but Brown had the prefered line and would cross under the chechered flag first.

Late Models were next with Eric Anderson and Jerry Morgan bringing the field to the green flag. Morgan, Anderson and Jack Simmons would take up the entire track racing three wide. Simmons took the lead from Anderson just as the caution flew. ANderson would go back to the point and lead the remaining laps holding off the charges of Simmons and Morgan.

Modifieds were next out with Johnny Fenewald taking the early lead. There was racing all threw the field two and three wide most of the race. Jessie Willard worked his way from deep in the pack to challenge Darren Roberts, Eddie Brey, Nick Pence and Tim Setzer for position. Willard looked to have his sites set on Fenewald until he lost the left rear tire and hub causing him to spin collecting Brey. After the restart Fenewald would get pressure from Roberts for lead as the Checkered flag fell. Fenewald was able to Hold him off taking the win.

Hobby Stocks were next with Allen Guthery leading wire to wire taking the win. Guthery is celebrating his 40th year of racing making this win even sweeter.

750 Sprinters saw Mike Taylor taking the win.
