Nichols wins IMCA Stock Car Doyle Lance Remembrance Race at U.S. 36

By RickStaley (Osborn, MO) -- E-Modifieds would kick off the night of exciting racing and set the pace for the Doyle Lance Remembrance Features. Heat race winner Chris Dishong would waste no time getting his Lewis prepared #54L out front with many challengers in pursuit. Other heat race winner Kevin Rash #07R was in the hunt for the front the entire feature battling Dishong and a hard charging Coleman Browning #21K. Browning would make contact with a car exiting the track in turn one bringing his night to an end leaving Dishong in command. Casey Burnett #23B would be the hard charger of the feature gaining eight positions to challenge Dishong in the closing laps. Dishong would see the checkers first capturing the3 win with Burnett a close second. Josh Adkins#15 would be in the picture all feature coming home with a third place showing. Fourth place would belong to Kevin Rash as he would hold off fifth place finisher Laine Grenier #25 who improves weekly and continually has top five finishes.

Heat race winner Brandon Dixon #3 would set a blistering pace in the Pure Stock Feature from his front row starting position and the green flag dropped on a stiff field of competitors. Mike Miller #M4 would waste little time threading the needle in turn one from a third row starting spot to get out front. Jack Turner #19 would take his shot at Miller but to no avail as heat race winner Miller continued to run a flawless race. Trevor Hittle and Tyler Starmer would both challenge as Starmer #11S would gain six spots on his chase for the front and Hittle #31M moving up seven spots. Miller would take his second feature win of 2022 and celebrate in Nextran Truck Center Victory Lane leaving Starmer to place second and Hittle third respectively. Conrad Kauffman #49K was solid all night and place fourth with the always fast, clean and consistent #C7 of Josh Marshall rounding out the night’s top five.

IMCA Northern Sport Mods would charge to the track with heat race winner #T25 of Tim Stallbaumer taking the lead as Flagman Chad Burns dropped the green flag on the field. Stallbaumer would bobble slightly in turn four allowing Jace Whitt #26J to slip by on the inside taking the lead away. Whitt would continue to lead with Stallbaumer keeping constant pressure lap after lap. Tim Eaton #211 would find the sweet spot on the track and creating added speed in the closing laps to challenge both Stallbaumer and Whitt. As the double checkers would fall, Jace Whitt would make in three feature wins in a row on the high banks with Stallbaumer a very close second. Eaton would end the feature knocking on the door third with the always fast a furious Steven Clancy #12X fourth. James Burns #B3, in his rookie season in IMCA Northern Sport Mods continues to improve posting a solid fifth place on the night.

IMCA Modifieds would return to the high banks of US 36 Raceway with super speeds and action. Josh Munsen would put his #19X out front and appear to be the car to beat running a perfect line around the three eights mile of dirt. Enter #26S of Steven Glenn as he would continually work the bottom closing in on Munsen with Steven Bowers Jr #77 in the mix as well. On a restart after a mid-race caution, contact among the leaders would send Bowers to the pits and leave Munsen and Glenn to battle for the top spot. Glenn, whose son had just won the IMCA Northern Sport Mod Feature would lead the closing laps and pick up the feature win with Munsen a close second and Jeremiah Asher #37 third. A sweet Nextran Victory Lane as Father and Son would both celebrate wins at the Doyle Lance Remembrance Races. Fourth place would go Bowers Jr with the #67 of Jeff Booher rounding out the night’s top five finishers.

IMCA Sport Compact would see a fierce battle between all competitors with thrills, spills and spin tingling action. Greg Marrant #71 and heat race winner Brad Mick #15 would battle the #2024 the entire feature swapping the lead numerous times. Jason Teel #2024 would start to slow on the track losing a left rear wheel bringing his night to an end. On the ensuing restart, Brad Mick would time the green flag to perfection taking the lead a pulling away slightly in the closing laps with Marrant close behind. Taking the white flag, leader Mick would go high in turn one making contact with the outside guardrail flipping his car bringing the red flag on the track. Greg Marrant would restart in front and cruise to the win with Nathan Buchanan #14J, in his first appearance at US 36 this season placing second. Payton Teel would cross the line third with Mick fourth and Jason Teel fifth.

IMCA would take to the track with $750 going to the Doyle Lance Remembrance Feature winner. Heat race winners Jason Estes #997 and Mich Ross #34X would take the front and race side by side with neither giving an inch with Estes high on the track and Ross running the low line. Mike Nichols #63 would come from a sixth row starting spot to challenge the leaders and move past for the front. Estes would challenge tooth and nail on the high side but just couldn’t wrestle the lead from Nichols, who was racing with a flat left front tire for about half the feature. Nichols would claim the win and big money with Estes second and a fast-charging Chad Clancy #21C third. Ross would slip to fourth with big mover Matthew Lance #12X flying in and landing in fifth on the night.

Crist Family and Boller Motorsports would sponsor a Dash for Cash with a 5-lap shootout for five Pure Stock Drivers. Eric Eaton #23E would take the lead and set a fast time with George Bruning #B5 on his bumper in the early laps. Gabe Querry #03 would have a stellar race in the mix for the front as well. Eaton would not be denied picking up the Dash win and the Cash with Bruning second. Gabe Querry would finish third with brother Chase Querry #02 fourth. Fifth place would belong to Luke McAfee #B4 who developed problems taking him from contention.
