Sanders, McAninch fill front row for inaugural Chisholm Trail Showdown

By USMTS PR (Park City, KS) — Following ten intense qualifying heat races on Friday night, Rodney Sanders and Ryan McAninch earned front-row starting spots for Saturday’s $5,000-to-win main event of the inaugural Chisholm Trail Showdown at the 81 Speedway.

Sanders bested all drivers in combined points from his two qualifying heats, winning his first from the fourth starting spot and doing it again from sixth in his second attempt.

The two-time United States Modified Touring Series national champ from Happy, Texas, will be joined on the front row Saturday by local favorite McAninch, who earned his berth by winning his first heat race from the pole and then charging from ninth to second in his other qualifying event.
Twelve drivers locked themselves into Saturday’s feature race.

Kenny Sweet and Thomas Tillison Jr. will fill the second row, with Dereck Ramirez, Dan Powers, Ryan Gustin, Brian Franz, Austin Siebert, Terry Phillips, Zack VanderBeek and Marc Hurd filling the rest of the first six rows.
Tyler Davis will fire off from the front row of Saturday night’s Real Racing Wheels “B” Main.

Gustin, who won the USMTS ‘Hunt’ race here in August, capped off Friday night’s program with a $600 win in the 20-lap B-Mod main event.
Travis Johnson, who started 13th on the grid, claimed the runner-up spot with veteran Stephen Muilenburg, Jeffery Kaup and Dylan Allen rounding out the top five.

The inaugural Chisholm Trail Showdown continues Saturday at the Park City, Kan., facility, with gates opening at 3 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

USMTS Modifieds will compete in an alphabet soup of main events leading up to the $5,000-to-win, $5000-to-start main event. B-Mods will run a complete show of heat races and feature races with a top prize of $1,000 up for grabs.
Spectator tickets are $20, seniors are $15, kids get in for $5 and children 5 and under get in for free. Pit passes will be $35.
