Snyder, Bowers top IMCA Missouri Nationals at U.S.36 Raceway

By Rick Staley (Osborn, MO) -- Night number two would start with the top 12 drivers in each class redrawing in front of the fans with each one choosing a kid to pick for them. With redraw complete and track prep finished it was time for hot laps then opening ceremonies. As we do each race at US 36 Raceway, we honored our Veterans, Active Military, Firefighters, and Law Enforcement. We would like to thank our Drivers that carried our Nations and State colors, Steve McDowell, Spencer Hartwick, Conner Masoner, and Carson Masoner. US 36 would also like to thank Jeremy Eaton for the beautiful performance of our National Anthem and we want to thank you the fans for coming out and supporting a night with the best Drivers to ever race entertaining us all.

E-Mods would see a qualifying feature for those having to race their way into the main event with great side by side action. Zach Boyd #6 would best the competition in the qualifier placing him firmly into the feature. The feature assembled and the green flag would fly with a gaggle of fast cars all wanting to taste victory. Night one winner Tim Eaton #211, would scratch, claw and dig his way to the front holding off all challengers to don the double dip winning both E-Modified Features taking home the lion’s share of the purse. Second place would see a great battle between Chris Dishong #54L and 2021 US 36 E-Mod Track Champion Coleman Browning #21K. Dishong would not be denied placing second holding Browning to end the race third. Josh Adkins flexed his muscles and finished a very strong fourth with Zach Boyd coming through the qualifier coming home fifth.

Conrad Kauffman #49K would pick up the last chance qualifier win to set the field for Pure Stocks. Darrion McLaughlin #38d set the bar high on night number one of the Nationals and would again appear to be the car to beat taking the lead early. Mac Attack Racing would hold off the challenges of Blake Peeler #26, Jason Ryun #27 and Tyler Starmer as the racing was hot and heavy. Having a weekend behind the wheel most drivers can only dream of McLaughlin would win both nights of Missouri Nationals marking his name in the history books. As McLaughlin celebrated the win, Blake Peeler would finish a strong second with veteran racer Alvie Christofferson #17C third place. Battle for fourth was won by Jason Ryun with Tyler Starmer #11S nipping at his heals rounding out our top five on the night.

IMCA Sport Mods would see an action-packed qualifier as Derek Hall #44D would charge to the win setting the field for our feature event. With a smooth and fast racing surface and a field of great drivers the green flag would drop and Chad Shaw #93SS would charge out front. Mike Nichols #63, night one winner would try Shaw both high and low, but Shaw would not make a mistake and pull away from the competition. 2021 US 36 Track Champion Adam Vrbka #7V would work his way to the front of the field getting past Nichols but would have nothing for Shaw. As the double checkers fell on the field Chad Shaw, “Chubzilla” would stand tall in victory lane winning the 2021 IMCA MO Nationals. Vrbka would end the race second with Nichols third. Fourth place would belong to Tim Eaton #211 with Chad Clancy #12X placing a solid top five.

Last chance qualifier for IMCA Stock was won by #26 Anthony Whitham completing the field of competitors for the feature. The green would start the race with an epic battle at the front of the field between the greatest of competitors. Jason Estes #997 would take the lead with Mike Nichols #63 and Mich Ross #34X dogging him every lap. Estes would use the high side holding off the charge of Nichols on the inside lap after lap until Estes slowed with a flat tire as the yellow came out for another competitor. Estes’ pit crew would change the tire and get him back on track before the green was redisplayed. Nichols would take over the lead with Ross challenging until Ross would also suffer a flat sending him to the pits and out of competition. Nichols would continue to lead as the field continued to battle behind him as Chad Clancy #112X would take his turn challenging. Nichols would take the National Win and celebrate in Victory Lane as Clancy would finish second. Estes was one of the faster cars all night battling back from the rear to place a solid and impressive third place. Fourth place went to Nate Barnes #29X with Sterling Sorenson racing his #2S to fifth place in the feature.

Jake Greenwood was last chance qualifier winner completing our field for our IMCA RaceSaver feature event. Making the saying, “Don’t tug on Superman’s cape” might be used for this feature as Stu Snyder got out front in his #5 Sprint car out front and never looked back claiming the feature win. As Snyder lead, fierce racing continued as we watched #4X Jason Danley start deep in the field and charge past competitors on his way to the front in the closing laps. Toby Chapman #7 along with Kenny Potter #55 and night one winner Nate Barger #98 would battle for position on the track with hot and heavy racing. Stu Snyder would pick up the IMCA MO Nationals Sprint Car feature win with Danley second and US 36 Track Champion Kenny Potter third. Forth went to Toby Chapman with always fast Barger fifth when the double checkers fell.

Steven Bowers Jr would win the Modified qualifier and advance to the feature. Terry Hurt #24T would take the early lead as green flew on the track with Jeff James #71 set his sights on the front. As everyone raced for the lead, Steven Bowers #77 would start at the rear of the field after winning the qualifier and we all watched as he picked off car after car. Hurt continued to lead as Boers continued through the pack and would charge into the lead after midway of the race. Bowers would pass every driver on track and claim the IMCA Modified National Win and celebrate the big trophy and big paycheck in Lake Road Warehouse Winners Circle. Rookie of the Year contender Drew Janssen #127 would, impressing all weekend, race his way to finish second with Jeff James a solid third place. Fourth went to Hurt with #24C of Brandon Conkwright rounding out the feature in fifth.

US 36 Raceway would like to thank all Drivers and Fans for a great weekend of racing action as we look forward to 2022. Special thanks to NAPA Auto Parts, Lake Road Warehouse, Nalle Equipment, XFactor Motorsports, Nextran Truck Center and Boller Motorsports.

Special thanks to Jerry Vansickel announcing the Nationals and IMCA TV for filming.
